What We Do On A Playground
We build the base first, either the existing concrete or asphalt pad, or a compacted stone base on a new site. The SBR cushion is mixed on site and poured to the thickness set by each piece of equipment, then the EPDM top layer goes on in the colours and pattern the school or daycare chose. Edges are shaped to meet the surrounding grass, concrete or curb without a trip lip.
Playground rubber surfacing needs a longer cure than a patio because it is thicker. We keep children off it for a few days and confirm the date before we leave.
